  • End of Year News

The club has had a very successful 2016 with a stable membership and good progression on the various layouts under construction. Club OO layout Pevensey Beach has made several exhibition appearances along with two other layouts owned by club members. Our own exhibition was well received with high quality layouts seen by a good public attendance. Our thanks to Malcolm Chambers for all the hard work he undertook to make the show a success.

The AGM saw a change of committee officers as follows: Chairman Roger Hyde, Treasurer Malcolm Chambers and, Elected Members Bob Knight and Rob Lewis. Unfortunately there were no takers for the post of Secretary so the committee members are currently sharing that workload. Our thanks to Terry Crossinggum for the years he put in as Secretary (and Treasurer at one time).

Club meeting nights had to be suspended during November and the early part of December due to Southern Gas closing Coast Road but some members were able to work at home on their layouts. Club nights have now resumed.

Ethel Wood hall suffered in the November storm with a section of the felt being ripped off the roof of the main hall allowing rain to get in but repairs are in hand. The hall remains useable.

Club News takes this opportunity to wish all members and their partner/wife all the very best for Xmas and 2017.

  • Update by Club News

A seven month review sees the club maintaining quite reasonble numbers at the Monday evening meetings. Our layouts are also progressing well with both digital and analogue control being used. Most are up and running with scenery now the next step.

Our July exhibition was a success with two club member's layouts, Holmill and Schlossberg, proving popular with visitors. Other quality layouts and trade stands provided visitors with a wide variety to see. The club sales stand was also very busy and a good day was had by all. Needless to say our thanks go out to all who made this possible.

Our chairman George Jaklinski has now stood down and our thanks go out to him for his work during the year. A new chairman and also a new secretary will need to be elected in November this year at our AGM. Volunteers please!

  • End of Year Post

The club has gone from strength to strength over the course of 2015 and now has a membership of 37 with a regular attendance of 20-25 each week which, for a small club is very good and is close to saturation point for the size of our club premises.

Our AGM was held in early July and heralded the appointment of a new chairman with other committee members being re-elected. This was followed by our third annual club exhibition in late July which was a thoroughly successful event with good attendance and compliments from everyone for the organisation and quality of the layouts.

For the first time the club (with thanks to Ben) organised an end of November trip to Hamburg to visit the Minatur Wunderland model railway. This is a massive permanent HO model railway representing a number of countries and occupies two floors of a dockland warehouse building. The attention to detail is quite exceptional. It also includes a fictional airport which has to be seen to be believed. A promo video is on our links page.

Early December saw our Xmas dinner at the Polegate Station Restaurant which was well attended by members and their wives/partners. A special thanks go out to the 'better halfs' for all their support throughout the year.

Best wishes to all over the Xmas & New Year

  • May Bank Holiday Update

Membership of the Club remains stable with work progrssing steadily on the various layouts under construction. Two of our layouts are booked to appear at the Bluebell Railshow and at Tinkers Park later in the year.

We were represented at the annual Pevensey Information Day exhibition in April by the Swiss N Gauge 'Schlossberg' layout which was well received.

Our AGM this year is at 7pm on July 6 at the Ethel Wood Hall and members should note that nominations and any proposed changes to the rules must be with the Hon Sec not later than the 15th JUNE. It is your chance to have your say on the running of the club.

Our annual club exhibition will be our 3rd and will be held on Saturday 25 July 2015 at the Pevensey Memorial Hall. All layouts are now booked and are of the usual high standard we have come to expect. After two years of very hot weather on the day will we get a 'hat-trick'?

News has reached us that our resident compiler of our internal newsletter Mike Wyatt has unfortunately been admitted to our local hospital. We wish him well for a speedy recovery.

Our Hon Sec has now received confirmation that our application for membership with the CMRA (Chiltern Model Railway Association) has been accepted.
